Five years ago, Grady Hofmann was a typical, active third grader until one day his life was turned upside down. He developed a deadly disease called aplastic anemia and needed to have a bone marrow transplant. His father—and Grand Rounds co-founder—Dr. Lawrence “Rusty” Hofmann was a perfect match, and ultimately saved his life.
Drawing from this terrifying experience as a parent and caregiver, Rusty was inspired to create Grand Rounds to help patients everywhere access quality care—where they, too, could have a “doctor in the family.” Today, we’re proudly serving nearly three million Americans with that promise.
Grady, now a healthy 14-year-old, recently nominated Rusty for the TODAY Show’s “phenomenal fathers” series. Their touching story aired this week in honor of Father’s Day.
