“Meet Grand Rounds” is a series of interviews introducing some of the people working to make quality health care accessible to everyone, everywhere.
As the primary day-to-day contact for our enterprise customers, the Implementation and Account Management team is responsible for ensuring a seamless health care experience for employees and their families, and delivering strong business results. Learn more about one of our account managers, Jordan Zahren, in the Q&A below.
What do you do at Grand Rounds?
I have the pleasure of working directly with our customers who are offering Grand Rounds as part of their broader benefits package to employees and their families. My relationship with the customer begins when they’ve decided to offer Grand Rounds as a benefit — it’s my job to coordinate a seamless (and painless!) implementation, ensuring that their company culture and overall program goals are considered every step of the way. Once we’ve launched Grand Rounds, I continue to work with the customer on a number of things to ensure program goals are met and patients are aware of their new health care benefit so that we’re in a position to help them when they need us most.
What inspired you to join Grand Rounds?
I actually met the Grand Rounds team at a benefits fair! I was taken by their energy and the patient-first focus they exuded. There were members of the account management, product, marketing, and medical teams present, which struck me as being, well, unique. I now know that these team members were all there so that they could better understand how Grand Rounds can help employees and their families get the best possible care.
From a health care strategy perspective, the concept of a service that is nimble enough to optimize access to the highest quality care, no matter where you are, was something that inspired me and ultimately, a mission I wanted to contribute to.
What’s been your most memorable/rewarding Grand Rounds moment so far?
It’s really meaningful to me when our customers share that they’ve had a positive experience with Grand Rounds. These people work so hard to manage benefit programs that support others, and I’m always really pleased to know that they, too, are personally benefiting from the services they champion.
How did you get started in your career field?
My first role after completing a Masters in Public Health was as a coordinator for a wellness program that aimed to engage hospital employees and encourage them to focus on their own health and wellbeing. This felt like a really important mission because we were working to support people who spend their days (and nights!) taking care of other people. Needless to say, I really enjoyed it and have been in health care strategy roles ever since.
If you could change one thing in U.S. health care, what would it be?
Simply put, a better patient experience. And to achieve this, we need better collaboration, communication, and information sharing among the various teams that care for patients.
What are you most passionate about outside of the office?
It’s a toss up! Live music, comedy, and great food — best enjoyed with my fun and funny husband, Pat (pictured above). I suppose I’m a product of my city, Chicago through and through!
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
This may sound silly, but I’d love to be able to have a conversation with my dog, Pippa. She always looks deep in thought!
