Pat was just 22 years old when persistent headaches sent him to see his doctor for help. He was prescribed a regimen of ibuprofen to alleviate the pain, but as soon as he was finished with the medication, the headaches returned. He went back to the drawing board with his doctor who thought the symptoms were similar to that of a chronic sinus infection, so he tried a round of amoxicillin—to no avail. Stumped, Pat’s doctor decided it was time to get an MRI of his brain, but was sure it wouldn’t show anything abnormal. Turns out, it did.
An Unsettling Discovery
Pat’s MRI showed a cluster of tumors on his brain. He needed to see an expert, but was told that leaving the hospital wasn’t an option. Grand Rounds stepped in to help Pat get the expert care he needed.
